For me anyway, the title of the thread and time it's posted has a lot to do with how many responses I get. Once it falls off the front page your odds go way down.
There also is an
amazing feature called a "bump". If you reply to your ignored post it will bring it to the top of the board for all to see again, often creating a frenzy of posting activity
