I had a very similar problem with my '87 Carerra. Only difference was it didn't feel sluggish to me at lower RPM, just acted like the rev limiter was set at about 5300 RPM.

I did everything Jag did except the AFM and I also replaced the fuel filter and checked the pressure regulator. None of it helped.

Here's the bad news. I never fixed it. The problem just went away. The last thing I did was replace the coil. I went for a test drive - still missed. I parked the car in frustration for a month or two. The only thing that happened is the battery went flat. Charged the battery and drove it - no miss. It's been a year and the miss hasn't returned but I wish I knew what the problem was.

If you fix it, please post the solution.
