Hey there.
I'm not sure about the heat damage to the hood, but I would expect it wouldn't do any damage short term. Please don't take my word for it! As for the insulation, I've seen somebody on e-bay selling replacement new insulation. Just punch up porsche 928 in the search....maybe a few days in you will find what you need. Seemed reasonably priced too. I can't remember who is selling this, but they sell a couple things, like the insulation, and I think a "improved" spare cover. Okay then........
