Correct me if I am wrong (as I count on every time I post in here), but didn't we support Saddam with weapons sales when the Iranian Ayatollah (who had thrown the USA backed Shah out of Iran) attacked Iraq many years ago?

I know this situation seems convoluted, but that old saw about forgetting history and repeating it keeps cropping up.

So many examples of this in this theatre. The British (post WWI) experience in Iraq... almost a carbon copy of what we now have.

I used to think that incoming presidents should have a degree in History.
