No spacer on spindle? Help!

I've been upgrading my bralkes (rebuild calipers, SS lines, cooling, pads, etc), and I'm having a problem with my right front hub/spindle.

I removed the hub to install the blocking blate and the colling thing, and reinstalled the hub without much difficulty (it was a little tough to pull off after the outer bearing was removed).

After getting the hub back on, and hoping I got the bearings just right, I thought all was well.

After reinstalling the newly rebuilt caliper, I found that the inner edge of the caliper was rubbing on the inside edge of the rotor (on the leftside the caliper is nicely centered within the caliper opening).

So... I took the thing off again. I noticed that there was only a little O-ring against the end of the spindle. On the left side, there was another piece that the hole in the cooling duct fit around nicely -- not so on the right.

A pitcure of my spindle (a little fuzzy) and the diagram for the part *I THINK* I am missing is attached.

I've never had the hub off before... could I have been running without the spacer and not had horrible problems??

I looked everywhere under the car and couldn't find the missing part. Could it have somehow seated itself inside the hub??

Please help brake and hub experts!!
