Leaded fuel

My 928 was originally designed with unleaded fuel in mind, as it started life as a Japanese export model. It is effectively a full s2, without the s2 engine - it has a US spec engine from what I understand.

If the car did not have a catalytic converter, is there any reason why racing fuel or fuel with lead in it could not be used. I think it would be fine as the lead wouldn't harm the engine and could only help to lubricate the valves. My 951, with no cat, doesn't seem to mind it.

I am no mechanic, what do you think?

Thanks for your replies.
