I'm a small time U.S. coin collector as well - no high dollar stuff, mostly what I have gleaned from change for the last 25 years or so. There were a lot more coins to be culled from circulation a couple decades ago, don't find much anymore.

That 1848 quarter is worth $20-$25 - more depending on the condition. The pennies are worth at least $10-$12.

That's retail, a dealer might give you 50%-60% of those values.
