You guys started this. Wonderful pics triggered memories of dirt bike riding and racing in my younger days. My brother successfully raced a Montessa in Central California in the early seventies. The following picture is something I drew 25 years ago for my brother’s pit crew tee-shirts (that’s him, mustache, numbers, bike, and leathers correct). I silk-screened a bunch of shirts (all now long gone) and for some fortunate reason printed one on poster board – which has remained stashed away for a long, long time. Until today – your posts caused me to dig it out and scan it with great pleasure and joy.
One of my favorite memories was racing my brother and his Montessa on a 500 Triumph Daytona (TT imitation) in his garage for a late Saturday night short track, flat track. Spectators were at their own risk – sit or stand on the washer, dryer, or work bench. Those were great parties. Redwood City neighbors were very, very tolerant.
