Well I guess I did -- sort of. While not an EE; I sell to a number of analog IC companies (although not ST Microelectronics who produce the first device and document that Warren posted). There are still billions and billions of diodes sold each year. They are just tiny little things selling for not much more then pennies. But they are still used in most consumer devices such as cell phones, TV's (both analog, digitial and HDTV) and just about anything else that you can think of.
