I would have given him a week, two tops. You're right on the money (pun not intended) that it takes little effort to send a cheque (I'm Canadian, everything is spelled differently up here).
If he gives you grief, not only should you write him up as a non-paying bidder, you should give him a mark against his score. I don't remember if that's one and the same; I haven't sold anything on EBay in years (I have two points out of two sales
)
Anyway, don't let him get the better of you. You have given him more than he deserves. EBay is for doing business, not for making friends.
