Question

This whole quick off the line discussion puzzles me?

People here often claim that 911s aren't really meant for fast off the line acceleration. WHY??????

They're relatively light, have quite powerful engines and loads of traction due to the rear engine. Why shouldn't that be good? Also the acceleration times measured by various tests through the years show that 911s can indeed accelerate very nicely. (Ok they may not be gentle on the clutch/gearbox, but forget that now).

What comparable cars are faster off the line...

in the 70s?
the 80s?
the 90s?

Ac Cobra perhaps. Wildly expensive Lamborghini's. Other cars? I'm talking NON MODIFIED cars...

My car has between 230 and 240 HP. It does 0-62 mph in roughly 5.8 secs. How many other cars will do that without significantly more HP?
