Then send me a big bit pic of a whole piece, seperate pic of flawed areas you have to use, and another pic of nice grained areas. I would think it would be S American teak vs Indonesian area. There are African and C American woods that are somewhat similar to teak. In other words, the only limit to the possibilities is the amount of time you have to invest and the correct wood will be worth a fortune with your custom work. You should get a pro to confirm or something before the big time time investment. Detail carving is difficult because of the wide grain structure vs walnut's tight grain.. no problem for the home mechanic, but big bucks to have a pro do it IF he knows how and isn't afraid of it.

About the holes.. I assume now your concern is for a wham bam? Get the plugs, let it all stabilize for at least week out of direct sun, sand, teak oil stripper, thin thin coat of varnish, fine sand the fuzzies that become raised, finish with a medium coat, then a quick sand every year or two if outside furniture. Z-Spar varnish has a nice quality hue vs very clear. Urethane coatings look a little low clas if your comparing the two side by side.

Your bed furniture involves a bit more time and steps.

Here's a pic of some teak. The fitting was tiedous and the bow tie gun checkering was about 40hrs for each door.
