The rare casewhen you CAN get ahold of them, it can be quite beneficial.
In the late 90's I paid over $700.00 for an IBM monitor that came with a 1 year warranty. At 18 months, the thing died...completely dead. I was living in Japan at the time, so getting tech support for the thing was next to impossible
Not quite sure how I did it, but I was able to find Leo Gerstner's e-mail address on an IBM website. I wsent an e-mail explaining how ripped off I felt about this moniter.
Now, chances are, he never saw the e-mail. I did, however receive a response (from somebody) and to make a long story short, IBM sent a packing box for me to ship them my monitor. I packed it up and shipped it to them (at their expense) and a week or so later, I receive a brand new monitor.
No matter how you "reach them"...sometimes it a good idea to shoot for the top dog.
