1. Put car in neutral - hold on the brakes.
2. Watch for the light to turn yellow going the other direction (anticipating your green) or the cars in front of you to start moving.
3. Press in the clutch - put the car in 1st gear.
4. Release brakes, slowly let out the clutch while giving a bit of gas.
Speed up step #4 if you're pointing uphill.
All standard cars have different clutch/RPM feels and preferences - you'll figure out what your car likes. No reason to ever ride the clutch. If you can't master this in 1-2 days of normal driving, buy/trade in for an automatic.
