possibly the one, is she worth it??

Well here goes, I am almost in a position to buy my first car, I just have to buy out the lease on the jetta my parents leased for me and then sell it. It is part of a huge insurance debacle I have been going through. So, once I sell my jetta I am hell bent on buying my first porsche(im a youngin, 20). My dad and I spent half a year restoring a 74 911 and for my first car I want to do a 914.

A friend of mine from school is selling his 1973 914. The engine has been bumped up to 1.9L from a 1.7, dan gurney lightweight rims(according to him), good paint, clean interior, new shift linkage bushings, MOMO Prototipo and some other small things. I have not had a chance to really go through the car and check for our favorite enemy rust and any other little problems. It also has a new MC and he claims there is less rust than would be expected, it has been a cali car its whole life.

So, assuming what he tells me is truth, with minimal non structural rust I think his asking price of 4,500 is a deal. Am I totally wrong with this assumption? I have lived my life in the 911 world so 914 prices are a shot in the dark for me.

Thanks a ton, Ryder
