I have purchased one of the kits to use on 73 2.0 I intend linking it to the CDI kit from the same supplier. The kit is comprehensive with the ability to select from two different timing set-ups (advance, dwell etc..)and this can be done from inside the car. The system will also accept an input from a knock sensor (building one of those).
Only difficulty is that the rotor needs to be modified. Using a non speed limiting rotor, the contactor point needs to be changed to a long conductive material in the shape of an ark. This allows the rotor to be in contact with the distributor / plug lead, long after it has passed the normal contact point. - The system works by extensively advancing the distributor, and then electronically controlling the delay time between rotor to plug contact & coil fire. Hence electronic timing.
It is a low cost kit, that makes for an interesting experiment. Who knows, it may really help.
