My favourite Jimi moment(well, one of them) is "Drivin' South" off the BBC sessions.. you can tell he is wayyyyyy loud in their little studio and the umbilical cord feedback relationship between his strat and the Marshalls is just, I dunno.. some sort of celestial event.
At Isle of Wight I attribute Jimi's offstage and between song attitude to the fact that all the people wanted to hear was Purple Haze and Voodoo Child when he had all this great new material - and for him to act like a crazyman and light his ***** on fire.. He was getting deeper and deeper into the music and didn't really dig that whole schtick anymore.. he wasn't very happy with the sound crew either.. after "In From the Storm" he just walks off and pitches the strat to the ground - no time for applause or chit chat.. he's too pissed off and tired.. plus he was playing at a festival in Sweden 12 hours later
