One "sweet spot" for the 914 is:
Stock front T bars
140 lb rear springs
19 mm front AR bar set full soft.
This is a good compromise street/AX set up.
That was one of my "stops" along the way.
My car is now pretty much a AX only car.
21mm T bars
25 mm Tarret AR bar (effectivly a 22 mm bar cause it's hollow)
set full soft
225 lb rear springs.....and I'm gonna need stiffer...I still have a push that I'm having to drive around.
I run the same size f&r tiars, so this may skew things a bit for someone with fat rears.
This is NOT a comfortable ride....but it corners fairly flat. .......
