are the lower deflectors, or cool tins on the type4 engine nessasary when converting to an upright cooling system?
I never got these pieces when I got my engine, and I wonder if I need them or not. I'm planning on putting my engine together soon, and need to know if I need these or not (otherwise I'll have to mess around with removing the pushrod tubes once the engine is together)
I'm converting to a Porsche 911 style upright cooling system, I've just arranged purchase and shipping for the fan/alternator setup, and will be buying the sharpbuilt porsche style shroud, as they are the only manufacturers of this type of setup that allows you to use your stock oilcooler in its stock location (that I know of)
Getting very excited as everything comes together.
OH ya one more question, on oilcoolers, my stock unit is cooked (melted, it came that way from PO) I need to get another unit. can a person use a used cooler? or is it recomended to buy new?
