on the oil cooler...

What I would do is see the product before I buy it (if used). First look to see if there are any bulges when you look through it, as this will suggest that it may have been blocked by impurities in the oil that settled in the cooler. If that's OK, check for leaks by filling with solvent, and leave it on a napkin to see if any juice got out.

If you do purchase used, be sure to give it a good solvent bath and dry before putting it on your engine.

I can understand why you want to get a used one, those things are expensive.
