If the head you are talking about are if fact 80-83 heads from a vanagon. They are more commonly called sqaure port heads. If
thoughs are the heads you are talking about I would strongly recommend NOT using them. Noone that I know of makes exhaust that bolt up to sguare port heads. I use a vanagon T-4 motor in a bug when I was in germany I had to cut the breath vent off the case to make it like a bus T-4 motor as for exhaust I had to use vanagon heater boxes and header. Header boxes Had to be all hacked up to shorten them so that the exhaust would fit under the car. I have never heard anybody call these heads "d" port heads thow. I've always used oval and square the discribe heads. If you want and experts opion call Markstephen Performance. The specialize in T-4 they are great people their and they know it all
