As far as flipping the diff on I think per 70 901 tranny your OK but after that they took away one side cover and made in part of the case. Also another advanage with the 911 901 tranny is the nose cone is like a VW so it make it easier to set the shifter up. Oh about shifter VW shifter are gated for a 4spd 901 is a 5spd the easiest fix is to use a 911 shifter and plate under the shifter.

About th T-3 I think the rear end is the same as a bug. unless it is an automatic. For a 63 you will have to weld in pivot point for the trailing arms. You can use 944 rear trailing arm or stock bug ones. You also will have to find bug IRS spring plates torsion bars and torsion bar caps. If you use the 944 trailing arms you must change the pivot bushing so it fits the bug pivot bolt. If you go with the huge 944 rear brakes you will need bigger brakes in the front. I'm using 944 front disc also. to make them fix you have to sleve the wheel bearing. the ghia spindle are smaller than the 944 one. to mount the caliper you just have to make a bracket out of a 10mm piece of steel. I can't e-mail you with pics.
