Your set-up is gonna be different than the one pictured. The MFI pictured has magnesium stacks, where your 73 has taller plastic units. The K&N base is made to mount between the carb body/MFI intake and the metal velocity stack. Your motor has the velocity stacks molded into the intake itself, making it about 2 inches taller than its early counterpart.
It can still be done, but you have to have the holes in the bases bored out, drilled a few mounting holes in the stacks, and unless you have a ducktail, the right watershield will bump the decklid grill.
I used to have this set-up, but it is more of a pain than its worth.
