CIS basic mixture adjustment
I have just finished reading the Bosch Fuel Injection & Engine Management by Charles Probst. My question is the difference in setting the basic mixture adjustment without the gas analyzer: the K-Jetronic with Lambda is recommended to use a dwell meter connected to the test connector to a target of 45 to 55% whereas the Motronic is set (again, if no gas analyzer is available) by hooking up a voltmeter to the disconnected Oxygen Sensor and adjusting the 3mm screw until finding the midpoint between the lowest and highest sensor output which is about 500 mV. I realize the best method is with the gas analyzer but that is not currently in my budget. The target should be so that open loop and closed loop are the same value. Can the latter method (Motronic) be successfully utilized when attempting to set the basic fuel mixture in a 911SC?
