Well, during a lull (split) in my current long-term relationship, I went on a date with a girl I met through a friend.
I studiously refrained from mentioning the P-car, as I feel it puts a spin on a situation that you can no longer control. Hell, I must be
loaded if I'm 24 and drive a 911! How else could I possibly afford it?
I figured that it's better to simply let her find out about it later on in proceedings. Unfortunately, I had to take the 911 on the first date as I'd loaned my daily driver to a friend. (He has an MG)
Well, the reaction was as I had feared. She did nothing about babble about the car and how cool it would be if her friends saw her dating a guy in a Porsche etc etc...
The date didn't really work out all that well and we only dated once more. Another mutual friend told me that she was spreading the word about her new date "..and he's got a Porsche 911!".
I think when you're concerning yourself with airhead bimbos, then the P-car is more trouble that it is worth. Girls parents' eye you suspiciously and complain that you drive too fast and that you make too much noise late at night.
They just don't understand it the way my girlfriend does. That's why, like the car, I think she might be a keeper...
