One cousin moved to canada in the 60´s and he also didn´t teached his kisd to much german. they had enough trouble with canadian languages ( British and French ).
Well his kids also hatet the labour day as they had been the bad guys with a german sounding name.
Marc has maried into a canadian greek family and has now to understand one language more and Karen is somwhere in the philipines aranging travels. No use for german there too.
The internet will unite the world into some kind off english.
