I wouldn't be too quick to assume there are metal chips from the chain dragging. Even if there are the big chips will be caught by the screen and the small ones will be caught by the filter. The only damage would be to the scavange side of the pump and there would need to be lots of chips to do significant damage.

If you find a collapsed tensioner it would be a good idea to check the sump screen and change the oil.
