If you ask anyone with experience with the guns on those ships, they'll tell you what a stupid move it was to beach the craft in the first place. When beached, the large guns were ineffective at that range, plus you'd be shooting through the bow of the boat (if the guns pointed down that far) to hit land. foolish mistake by any tactical measure.
