I was just looking at that ad last night in C&D. I thought it was a bit typically Teutonically arrogant, which is OK.
But what really struck me is that Porsche is missing an opportunity, and advertising that missed opportunity. Here they have a 6-speed gearbox in all these cars that will never be driven over 90mph by 75% of their owners (those are my made-up numbers).
Why aren't they offering a shorter, close-ratio gear box as a USA option? 0-60 in 4.4sec out of the base Carrera, anyone?
Maybe they should water it down a bit over here. Who needs the Autobahnesque 170mph top speed, really? It's all about acceleration for a lot of Americans.
