Well, that helps. A favorite of mine combines many things at once. So here it is...
Go up I17 north and look for exit to sedona. Go to Sedona, keep an eye out for road on right to "Red Rock Crossing". There is a nice little place to aprk your rv and enjoy the famous crossing of the river used by FOrd inmany John Wayne movies. OR- go to "Hoyles" cabins on the way up thecanyon leaving sedona. Look for parkng space as this is where you can go for an incredible hike (short, or as long as you want) up the east fork of the sycamore (trail head across from the cabins). There are old dude ranch ruins, but most importantly, miles of trail jumping back and forth across a beautiful creek that is pungent with the smells of the southwest. We usually brig a picnic basket filed with snakcs and vino, which chills nicely in the creek a few miles in. Absolutely spectacular hike. You can easily kill a couple days in this area. Further up the road (89a i think) towards flagstaff on the right is an apple orchard with fresh seasonal apple pies. Yowsa! The best!
If you have time, I love Bisbee down south (St Elmo bar, mine tours, antique shopping, sightseing, haunted hotel form the 1800's (copper queen). From Bisbee, Tombstone is an easy side trio, as well as several other places of interest (great wine region near sonoita or patagnia for example). Southern arizona is an incredible place. Let m know what you decide and I will try to give you some background on the area and places to see. My buddies and I have had an annual run to southern az for years, always ending at the coper queen, yet I still feel like I have not begun to scratch the surface on things to see.
If you like planes, you must go to the air museum in Tucson. Yikes!
