Allen -- yep, you're on target. With the MM sychronizers. It's a sweet gearbox. I just didn't trust MM to build the motor, so I had them send their 2.5l kit to a friend of mine in CT who at the time held the track record at Lime Rock in a 2002 and paid him to build the motor. If anbody wants his contact info, PM me. I'm happy to share -- he's a great guy.
Blue -- absolutely. It's not complete w/o the reverse Turbo 2002 on the front. But this (and one other) was the ORBUT selection at '02 Fest East -- and this was the only car in the place I would've traded titles for (not as detailed as my car, but freaking nice). I can eat Tiis w/ my "mere" '02. I like knowing that, esp. b/c most everyone thinks Tiis are the only '02s worth owning for some reason. Kugelfisher is fine, but it's not the be-all, end-all of '02.
I like the theory of the M2002 (an E30 M3 motor in a 2002) but I dunno... my theory is work w/ what you've got. Why not shoehorn a McLaren V12 motor in there? It's still, technically, a BMW(esque) motor...
