If we were to take the Stromberg/Flintstone/Mul(e) approach, and flatten the whole place, we'd essentially be creating a sandy version of Hitler's takeover of Europe. As such, the rest of the world would organize against us. China would be a major player, and has a huge industrial base and even larger manpower base. I'm sure Russian and North Korea would love to get a poke in at us as well. Betcha didn't think of that.
