Island -- it is a twist on a lament of Latin descent -- "Sic Transit Gloria Mundi" means, essentially, "Thus Passes the Glory of the World," or "So the Glory of this World Passes Away." Used "literally" upon the passing of a Pope, and figuratively when something cherished is lost, usually due to human action, omission or neglect.
I bastardized it a bit to convey the passing of the glory and/or moral authority of the UN.
