Three years ago, there was talk of al Quaeda having 60K affiliates around the world. We have killed how many? Since there isn't really a 'membership' but a loose coalition of groups, we can't grab membership cards off dead bodies and rack up points.
For the thousands of affiliates/sympathizers we've killed, we have aided in the recruitment of thousands -- maybe tens of thousands -- more. The Arab world seems to have some tolerance for us being in Afghanistan, but very little for us being in Iraq. Even the Bush administration admits attacking Iraq has made it a 'magnet for terrorists.'
So hooray for us for getting the Pakis to nail another known anti-American bad guy.
But I refuse to call any weekend good when American soldiers die on the soil of a country that was no threat to us.
