I expect - and he should expect - to not redefine - but define himself tomorrow night. But in the meantime, Mat, if you have insight into what John Kerry stands for, please air it out. I'd like to know.
Its been quite a problem for the campaign as you probably already know. I think they really wanted to run an issues driven campaign and stay away from character attacks. Unfortunately that doesn't lend itself introducing a candidate because I think voters are equally as concerned about issues as they are the attitude of the candidate. Issues such as the war, the economy, etc, aren't really that interesting to talk about in and of themselves. Statistics don't grab you, numbers aren't interesting. Its when you start to place blame and outshine your opponent that peoples ears perk up because they want to see the response. I think BC'04 has done a really good job of avoiding the issues with smears against the Kerry camp and its been entertaining, but the issues remain.

Hey, American politics are rough and tumble, and a lot of voters want to see some action from the politicians, not the policies. Im with you DD, Kerry has some work to do with these debates. GW has given him plenty of stuff to pound on, but he needs to sell himself as much as he needs to sell his ideas.

Personally, I just like the guy. Do I want to hang out with him, grab a beer, talk about women and cars? Not really. He's running for president, he's got decisions to make, and its reassuring to me that he'll give a little thought to the issues before taking action.
