I first saw VH in the summer of 78. They sounded great. Of course everyone there was stoned out of their minds. Saw them in 80, they sounded great but of course everyone was stoned. Saw them again in I think 84. Everyone was even more stoned and they sounded great. The average age of the concert goers was probably teens to mid 20's. All those gigs were with DLR. My wife and I liked his showmanship. The rest of the band were fantastic of course.

Saw them last Wednesday night. My 16 year old son who covers 4 or 5 of the DLR era stuff with his band was with us. The show rocked. But not a sniff of ganga in the air. Hagar has a great rock star voice. He is a good showman. EVH chops were top notch except where he went into this solo part where he kept screwing with his volume nob. It was ok for about a minute then it got old. He finally ripped out of that snooze zone and the rest of the show was top notch. He should have left out all the parts where he tries to jump. He can't do it anymore and looked like a 50 year old man that weighs 300 instead of one that might weigh 150 like he does. He was had the cig hanging out of the headstock like Keefer, who at least hasn't had half his tounge removed due to cancer. WTF?

We left the concert saying it just isn't like the old days. Which of course it isn't. I asked my son what he thought and he said it was prettty good. The next day we still thought it was good just not DLRoth enough, which of course it will never be. Oh well they're all still alive and touring.
