I have a 77 911 sc that has an aftermarket electric window kit installed. The passenger side went dead about 6 months ago. When I finally got in there, I found that the motor which turns the manual crank did not spin when engaged because the window was sitting adjar rendering it unmovable. I freed it up the best I could but now need a strong hand to move up after being lowered. As luck would have it the driver's side went last week. I got into this one too and found that the plastic gear that attaches to the manual crank and moves the window was stripped on the inside. When you hit the switch the gear just spins without moving the window. Ok now the questioins... I need some input as to the best method to repair these puppies. Also I have no idea if the driver's side plastic stripped gear is part of the original crank or came when the prior owner upgraded to electric. In fact I have no idea even where to get a replacement part. A metal gear would seem to work best but hey, what do I know.
It would really be nice if I could drive with the windows operating properly. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
