You have to remove the top mounting bolts. compress the shock all the way down to engage the valve and then turn the plunger. YOu will feel it engage and then have a bit more resistance as you open/close the valve. I think CW is more damping, CCW is less damping. REmember this only changes the rebound characteristics of the shock.
