new antifreeze makes car overheat!

I am a new 911 owner, (1976 911S) and when I first bought it I tried doing some routine maintenance like replacing plugs and filters. I opened up the coolant-tank in the engine compartment and noticed it wasn't full, so I just added some coolant until it was full. (yes, I added 60% coolant and 40% water) The engine started overheating and now it wont start at all, it just makes a clicking noise (I checked the battery). Was I supposed to use a different antifreeze? Thanks for your help. -Lamar
