World in Crisis

I had a conversation with the late Congressman George Brown....I said that the greastest crisis man had facing him was overpopulation....he agreed with me but felt that technology would be able to meet the challenges of feeding mankind.....I was not so sure.....we both agreed that clean water was going to be a pivotable issue...

It seems that man overpoopulation is destroying the planets ability to regenerate itself...we are using too many of it;s resources to quickly.....everything from Global warming from the overuse of fossil fuels, depletion of the oceans fish, destruction of wilderness/rain forest, to erosion of farm lands. And it's all in the name of economic progress....As the population of the earth increases so will the pace of degradation. At some point in time the earth will reach a saturation point after which there will be a collaspe in the earths human population...one of the great fears at the CDC is that with the clearing of the rain forests an unknown virus might be unleashed that could devastate mankind.... we allready have AIDS which is a slow killer and has claimed in the neighborhood of 30M or so people and Ebola which one strain was one gene away from becoming airborne.

Happy weekend pondering the end of the world as we know it.....
