Bin Laden said in his 1998 fatwah that part of the reason for his (upcoming) strike against the US was the deaths of 100,000 Iraqi children during the economic embargo of Iraq. Mostly, I think he and the Mujahadeen considered themselved betrayed by Reagan/Bush1 when they were used to fight the Soviets and then abandoned (not sure what else we could have done, though).
