Poll challengers -- is this what its come to?
Ohio will have approximately 3,500 Republican 'challengers' at polling places today, targeting 'newly registered Democrats.'
Yesterday's ruling against this plan was reversed on appeal by a couple of Republican-appointed judges.
This is reminiscent of the uniformed 'guards' placed outside polling places in Orange County, CA by Republicans several years ago. It was hoped that Hispanic voters, especially, would be intimidated. But it didn't work. And it was ruled illegal.
So, I'm sure many conservatives here think the Ohio decision is a great thing.
But let me ask -- if the shoe was on the other foot, would you accept the idea of Democrat 'poll challengers' standing outside your polling place? Truly?
