I thought the same thing at first when my S2 engine gave out. Until you find out how much the kit actually cost by the time you get everything. Not a cheap "kit" to fit the V-8 into a 924 or 944. But will produce more power and may be cheaper years down the road.

It ended up being like $2500+ for all correct conversion parts from Renegade Hybrids, less motor, ECU, springs, and extra labor, etc. So to get a decent V-8 motor your looking at $1000-1500 which brings the total to over $4000+ less labor costs (another $1000).

I found a rebuilt zero miles 944S2 motor for less than $2500 and cost $750 in labor to have it swapped out.
