The Democratic Party is like a ship that has hit the reef and is taking on water. The Democratic Party has been a party of Bankrupt ideas and ideals for years. The Great ideas of the New Deal had long been accomplished and the party was traveling on thin fumes....

The repudiation and demise of the extremist Liberal Wing of the Party includes.

1. The loss of a leading Democrats Senate seat with the defeat of Tom Dascle. This is the first time in nearly a century such a thing has occured.

2. The pickup of 4 or 5 Senate seats by the Repblicans (55), the first time since McKinely that the Repblicans have complete control of the Legislative branch and Presidency.

3. A further widing of the Repblican lead in House

4. A reelection of a standing President with both a large popular margin and an electoral college vote.

5. Basic control of the Judical branch of government...that it is conservative in nature...

The Democratic Party is going to have to rethink it's positions, come up with some new ideas and fresh faces or it will fade ito the pantheon of Great Political parties. A new party will arise out of it's ashes. But so many of it's current leadership will be gone...
