More weight on one axle = less grip for that axle. Therefore the above statement quoted from renegade is incorrect. Another thing to note is the distribution of the weight on an engine, center of gravity of the said engine, etc. I have trouble picturing a domestic v8 being so much lighter than a Porsche 944 motor. I have weighed several 944s (turbo and otherwise), and have access to a scale in Raleigh North Carolina, I would weigh somebodies 944 v-8 conversion car if anybody's willing to offer.

Anyway, I would be the last guy to bad mouth people who "modify" their Porsches but there's a difference between pushing the limits of a Porsche motor, and dropping in a carburated, push rod, iron-block v-8...
