mine will be getting snow tires this year as i am expecting a big mess. Last winter was horrible too, but I drove the new work van around and it has all season michelins....drove like a champ.
Im already trying to save up some $ to buy a car cover so the ice doesnt break my door handles and other expensive things like the glass. I already broke the passengerside one so if I break the driverside one, im screwed. Have to crawl in thru the hatch hehe.
Last year the old work van stayed at my house, and it sleeted the first part of the night, got warm for a few hours then early morning temps dropped below 0. It was really weird for those kind of events, but as it froze the sleet coming down just piled on the windshield...eventually turning it into a complete iceblock. I went to open the van the next morning and i get inside and the windshield is spiderwebbed like no tomorrow. Hence the reason why we had a new work van after that.
So all of you in the winter states, be careful and try to cover your car if it stays outside. It going to be a pain in the butt for me to cover it and uncover it every night and morning, but I can deal with it...
