There is an increase in weight on the front end when installing a V-8. But I'm curious if anyone can quantify which is the bigger step in weight, from NA to turbo, or from the turbo's front end weight to a V-8. I did some checking, and frond a site that put the difference in weight from an NA to a turbo at right about 200 lbs. Lots changed in the 944 turbo, but is 100 lbs too much to assume for the turbo, and its plumbing? After checking I got a weight of 537 lbs for a 283 SBC with aluminum intake. I figure a 350 with aluminum heads ought to come in under 500 lbs. I would guess the 2.5 na engine must be pretty close to 300 lbs. Adding 200 lbs to the front must alter handling like taking a stock 944 with a full tank of gas, removing the rear seat, spare jack and tools and running the tank almost empty would.
