I recall he was upset about what happened in Wacco Texas and was making an anti-federal govenment statement as much as anything else.
Wacco had that religious cult, so one would think he was strinking back for those who had fallen practicing an extreem form of Christianty.
I think McVeigh claimed he did not do it, and was set-up.

There could of been camps of Christian extreemist cheering at the fall of the Oakie fed building, but the fact that they were probably hiding in the hills and bunkers means we did not see it.
