Ferrari's sound nice, at least my friend's 1981 308 GTS does. Plus he can shift as quickly as he wishes through the gates.
It's not a Porsche, but then again a Porsche is not a Ferrari either.
I think you are hearing an after market exhaust.
If you can see and hear him, then he can see and hear you. May I suggest you make friends and cruise together once in a while, this might take the edge off the "that guy" factor.
