IMHO for not a ton more money you may want to consider a small laptop computer (subnotebook) as it can play DVD's but also is much more versatile.
Fortunately my 3 yr old son has not yet learned that it is possible to watch videos/tv in the car
It's just a matter of time before somebody at preschool spills the beans, though.
